Aliens with Criminal Histories
US NEWS -- Nearly three
hundred illegal aliens with criminal records have been deported
from the United States or are facing removal following a three-day
law enforcement surge in California, making it the biggest
operation targeting at-large criminal aliens ever carried out by
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In Los Angeles,
California, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for ICE John
Morton announced the results of the special operation, which
involved more than 400 agents and officers from ICE, the U.S.
Marshals Service, as well as several other state and local
agencies. More than 80 percent of the criminal aliens taken into
custody had prior convictions for serious or violent
crimes, such as rape by force, armed robbery and assault
with a deadly weapon...

NEW YORK NY NEWS -- According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics,
the Human Trafficking Reporting System (HTRS) operation recorded 1,229 alleged incidents of
human trafficking in the United States between January 1, 2007, and September 30, 2008. Of
those alleged human trafficking incidents reported over a 21-month period, 83 percent
involved allegations of sex trafficking. Ethnically, Latino victims comprised the largest
share of alleged sex trafficking victims (37%), and also made up more than half of alleged
labor trafficking victims (56%)...
